The God of the Gaps fallacy is based on the silly idea that assumption and presumption count as much as confirmed data.

Religion: God did it. God Wills It! There's your answer. Now deal with it and stop asking questions.
Science: Do you have any question?  Do you want to read more about this topic from those who have studied it long before you? Do you have some new data? 

"Faith does not give you the answers, it just stops you from asking questions." 

Because you will never see any religious conformist achieving the same amount of knowledge and data than those who are skeptic about their surroundings.
